MICHELLE LANE: a biography
Michelle has worked with the talented students at the University of Arizona, Cal State University Northridge, Calabasas High School & more directing the puppetry for their productions of AVENUE Q. As this show is one that is very close to her heart, Michelle loves teaching the art of puppetry to young minds and enjoys putting up the show she made her Broadway debut closing at the Golden Theatre.
Michelle's passion has always been for acting and singing, but becoming a puppeteer was not only something she didn't expect, but something she found great joy doing. She was cast in the original company of Avenue Q in Las Vegas. Immediately after Q, she found herself following Bobby Lopez to his new venture in Orlando recreating Dory for the stage in Finding Nemo the Musical.
Michelle is an Ovation Award Winner for her performance in the West Coast Premiere of Swing! at Musical Theatre West. Other West Coast Premieres: she played the lead, Alison in Suburb the Musical at the Long Beach Playhouse and Evelyn Nesbit in Ragtime at Moonlight Amphitheatre. She has lived and worked on both coasts and many cities in between. Her regional credits include: A Christmas Carol (Madison Square Garden), Diana in Next to Normal (Pico Playhouse), Winifred Banks in Mary Poppins (Cabrillo Music Theatre), Florence in Chess (Gallery Players), Violet in Side Show (Weathervane Theatre), Amalia in She Loves Me (Sierra Repertory Theatre), Isabella in Measure for Measure (Arizona Repertory Theatre), Frau. Kost in Cabaret (Arizona Repertory Theatre), to name a few. Coming to theaters: indie horror feature film:Getaway. TV: The Truth About Jane with Stockard Channing and Ru Paul. She earned a BFA in Musical Theatre from the University of Arizona.
